The Dusty Attic DT - Sandy Toes

Hello Dusty Attic fans!!

Today I am sharing my take on the February Mood Board at The Dusty Attic. I have created a pretty beach themed layout inspired by the gorgeous colours in the mood board.

Super pretty right?!

Here's what I created.

'Sandy Toes'

I first grabbed my coral coloured Heidi Swapp Color shine to add that colour to my background paper. Once dry, I added some stenciling using the Scales Stencil and some white gesso. I use a latex make-up wedge in a light dabbing motion for a lovely smooth application. I added some stamping too using the darker grey blue in the mood board.

I painted all of my chipboard pieces with the white gesso and let it dry. I added the stunning Baroque Frame to my layout first and then placed some messy blue thread across the centre of the page.

Next I layered up my matching patterned papers and added those to the right hand side of the frame. I slipped in a couple of cute Polaroid Frames and foliage.

I painted the title and the sweet Sand Dollars with the same Colour Shine as the background and added those when dry along with the photo and other embellishments.

The Dusty Attic DT - Always Take The Scenic Route

Hello Dusty Attic fans!!

Today I am sharing a layout for The Dusty Attic using lots of fabulous Dusty products.

I was inspired by the January challenge at Kraft Plus for this layout so have used a photo of my hubby on his tractor at hay making time and stuck to a simple colour combo of kraft, white, pink and mint.

'Scenic Route'

I started with a wash of lovely mint paint on my background kraft card stock. Once dry I used the Burlap Stencil with some white gesso to add some interest. I also added a little stamping before layering on the patterned papers, photo and embellishments.

I painted all of the chipboard pieces with three coats of white gesso to make it super fresh and crisp. This works really well with the kraft background.

To make the title pop, I used Posca Paint Pens to colour certain words.

Flutterby Designs DT - Magical AF

Hello Flutterby Peeps!!

Today I am sharing a super bright layout for Flutterby Designs featuring the Magical AF collection.

'Magical AF'

Check out the rainbow of bright colours inspired by the stunning 12 x 12 paper in the background. I absolutely LOVE that paper designed by the super clever Anita Rodway.

The photo (crappy phone photo. sorry!) below shows what I added to the background paper. I didn't want to cover up too much of it so I just added some swipes of white gesso in the central area where my photo was going to be. When that was dry, I diluted some Flutter Colour paints to match the colours in the paper, spritzed the paper with water and let the paints float across the surface. I flicked the paints over too.

Next I arranged some of the gorgeous Everyday Etc Filler Cards across the page and secured. I used the filler cards and some chopped up patterned paper to add layers behind my photo too.

Then I piled on the messy thread and embellishments followed by my title and some journalling strips to explain why I was wearing hot pink zinc cream on my lips in that shocking photo.

Darkroom Door DT - Abstract 07

Hello Darkroom Door fans!

Today I have three cards to share for Darkroom Door featuring the fabulous NEW Abstract 07 Abstract Stamp.

The Abstract Stamps are a big favourite of mine as I love the smaller size of them. This makes them absolutely perfect for cards and art journaling as well as many other uses.

For my three cards. I decided to use the Abstract Stamp to create a confetti like background with pretty Distress Oxide Ink colours.

'Live It Up' Card

Instructions:

Step 1:

- Cut a piece of kraft card stock measuring 14.5cm x 21cm.

- Fold in half to form the card base.

Step 2:

- Cut a piece of cream card stock measuring 10cm x 14cm.

- Apply Cracked Pistachio, Squeezed Lemonade and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Inks to the stamp starting with the lightest colour and ending with the darkest.

- Spritz the stamp lightly with water.

- Apply the stamp to the left hand side of the card stock piece.

- Repeat until the whole piece is covered (ie 3 times all together)

- Stick down on the card base.

Step 3:

- Ink up a stamp from the Watery Washes Stamp Set with the Cracked Pistachio Ink. Spritz with water and apply to the card front.

- Use a soft wet paintbrush to blend the ink on the stamped image for a smoother look.

- Press a corner of each of the ink pads onto an acrylic block.

- Use the paintbrush to pick up the colour and flick over the card front.

Step 4:

- Use the Worn Lipstick Ink to stamp some stars (as pictured) from the Stars Stamp Set onto an extra piece of the cream card stock.

- Fussy cut each star.

- Add the largest star to the card front along with some messy thread.

Step 5:

- Stamp the ice-cream cone onto the extra card stock using Tree Branch Archival Ink.

- Stamp the ice-cream using the three oxide inks.

- Fussy cut each piece and stick together.

- Add to the card front using 3D foam.

Step 6:

- Add the remaining stars to the card front along with a stamped sentiment.

Flutterby Designs DT - Sparkle

Hello Flutterby peeps!!!

I am so happy to be back on the Design Team and playing with fabulous Flutterby Designs products again!!

For my first layout I played with the awesome Magical AF collection to create a bright and fun page.

'Sparkle'

I started this layout with the Magical AF Mysterious 12 x 12 paper. I absolutely LOVE the 12 x 12 papers. The quality and weight is amazing and they can take abuse!! Of the painty kind I mean not the sweary kind! LOL

This paper is so perfect on it's own that I didn't really need to do anything at all to it. I did though of course! I swiped on some white gesso and when that was dry added some diluted Tropicana Teal Flutter Colour Paint. I stencilled over the top with the white gesso again.

Next I layered up those fabulous Everyday Etc cards in the Magical AF range. I stapled them together in the middle to secure before adding to my page. I prefer to staple my layers together leaving the edges free so I can stick in all of the lovely Bits and Bobs, Page Tabs and everything else I think of as I go along. I never usually have a plan when I start my layouts. I prefer to just go with the flow.

I added some messy thread and a fussy cut as well as my photo.

Then I added all of those extra little bits and pieces and embellishments to make it fun.

Finally I added the title and some other words that related to my photo of my darling daughter.

Darkroom Door DT - Lots of Labels

Hello!!

I am back again today to share my projects for DARKROOM DOOR featuring the awesome BRAND NEW Lots of Labels Rubber Stamp Set.

The possibilities are absolutely endless for this versatile stamp set from cardmaking, scrapbooking, off the page projects as well as journalling and even school book labels (that I will be making over the weekend!)

So far I have created a scrapbook layout, cards and an everyday journal in a traveler's notebook. SO first up is my journal.

'Everyday Journal'

So my plan this year is to try to keep a little everyday journal inspired by Rachel Greig's fabulous journals. I am starting on Feb 1st and just jotting down highlights from each day. I am terrible at using planners and journals though so we will see how I go. My plan is to share how I decorate my journal each month.

To create this cover page I first stamped the various labels into my lined notebook using different blue Archival Inks. I stamped the same labels again onto some thin printer paper and cut out. I then stuck the masks over the labels using a little bit of double-sided tape.

Next I created the background by stamping some Fine Leaves all over using Jet Black Archival Ink. I inked the background with an ink blending tool loaded up with Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide. I coloured the leaves with Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks and blended with a water brush pen.

I added a little stenciling using the Starry Night Small Stencil with white gesso. To finish I stamped the words into the labels.

'On The Farm' Layout

One of my favourite techniques when scrapbooking is to create lots of layers. I love to tuck in bits and pieces in and around my photo and the Lots of Labels Stamp Set allows me to create my own labels in co-ordinating colours to be able to do this.

Here I have stamped some labels in black, grey and yellow inks, fussy cut and added them to the layers. I have also used them to add the title and other descriptive words to the layout to give added impact.

Darkroom Door DT - Burnt Edge

Hello Darkroom Door fans!!

Today I have a few projects to share for Darkroom Door featuring the fabulous BRAND NEW Burnt Edge Frame Stamp. This is such a cool and unique stamp and absolutely perfect for masculine style cards which can sometimes be a little tricky.

I have created 3 cards featuring this stamp including a Valentine's Day card and two masculine style cards.

'Bee Mine' Card

Instructions:

Step 1:

- Cut a piece of kraft cardstock 15.5cm x 21.5cm. Fold in half to form the card base.

Step 2:

- Cut a piece of smooth white cardstock 10cm x 15cm.

- Apply the Honeycomb Background Stamp using a red ink such as Wendy Vecchi Make Art Blendable Dye Ink in Red Geranium.

- Once the ink is dry, Use an ink blending tool to apply the same colour around the edges of this piece.

- Stick down on the card base.

Step 3:

- Using the same red ink, apply the Burnt Edge Frame Stamp onto some book paper.

- Repeat until you have three stamped images.

- Fussy cut these images and then scrunch and unscrunch them.

- Use the ink blending tool to apply Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink over the pieces. (Old Paper or Antique Linen would work really well also)

- Ink the edges with Ground Espresso Distress Archival Ink or similar dark brown ink.

- Layer these pieces together and secure with a staple or two.

- Stick down on the card front.

Step 4:

- Stamp an outline heart from the Hearts Stamp Set on book paper using Jet Black Archival Ink.

- Apply the honeycomb stamp from the Buzzing Bees Stamp Set over the top using the red ink.

- Use the ink blending tool to apply the red ink over the heart.

- Stick down on the card front.

- Also stamp three tiny hearts from the Hearts Stamp Set.

- Ink the tiny hearts with the red ink.

- Apply double sided tape to the back of the hearts before fussy cutting (this helps to make the book paper a little more sturdy for cutting out)

Step 5:

- Stamp the large bee from the Buzzing Bees Stamp Set as well as the sentiment using the Alphabet Medley Stamp Set onto some book paper using the Jet Black ink.

- Fussy cut these elements.

- Add some messy red thread to the card front over the large heart before adding all of the remaining fussy cut images.
