The Dusty Attic DT - April Projects

Hello Dusty Attic peeps!

Today I have two layouts to share for the Dusty Attic for April.

The first layout is based on the April mood board. I loved the fresh colours so much I just had to create another layout with them.

'You Light Up My Life'

I started by swiping some Sugar Plum Dusty In Colour over my background patterned paper using a silicone brush. I diluted the Sugar Plum as well as Sunburnt Orange and Pesto paints and flicked them over the surface.

I layered patterned papers as well as the stunning Delicate Frame # 3 over the paint swipe. Then I painted the foliage chipboard pieces using the same Dusty In Colour paints. I added in clusters of chipboard foliage and sweet Dusty in Bloom flowers.

I painted the cute Mini Heart Button, Mini Dots and the title using heavy white gesso.

'Super Karate Kid'

I used the Week 14 Sketch for inspiration for this boy layout. I am loving the fabulous sketches!! They make creating a layout so easy. I kept to a monochromatic colour scheme for this layout to make sure my photos really stood out. I used the Crosshatch Stencil with heavy white gesso to add some interest to the dark grey background patterned paper.

I painted all of the chipboard with three coats of heavy white gesso to maintain the monochromatic look but also give it a crisp white look.

I covered the lightening bolt with co-ordinating patterned paper.

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today.

The Dusty Attic DT - April Mood Board

Hello Dusty FANattics!

Today I am sharing take on the stunning April Mood Board at The Dusty Attic using lots of fabulous Dusty Attic products.

'Be Your Own Superhero'

As soon as I spied the gorgeous colours in the mood board the green and orange immediately stood out and reminded me of a super cute photo I had of my kids dressed in the Ninja Turtle onesies.

Here's a reminder of what the mood board looks like.

Stunning fresh colours right?!

So after a lovely treasure hunt through my stash I came up with an assortment of random older patterned papers. I added a swirl of Dusty In Colour Paint to my background paper and splashed some diluted paint over it too.

I added the largest string frame from the String Frame Small pack in its raw state on top of the paint circle. Then I collected up some string and threads in co-ordinating colours, tied in a circle and added on top of that.

I layered some matching patterned papers together and added that to the layout with a couple of layers of 3D foam to make up for the bulky layers on the layout. Then I added the photo on top.

How gorgeous are those turtles?!!! I love them and couldn't wait to use them on this layout. I painted them with Pesto paint to match the background.

I used Sunburnt Orange paint for the speech bubble, heavy white gesso for the title, mini stars, page pebble and mini tab and left the industrial stars raw.
