Scrapping Clearly DT - Adore You

 Hello Scrapping Clearly fans!!

Today I am sharing my latest layout created using lots of awesome supplies from Scrapping Clearly.

I started the layout by cropping some Heidi Swapp patterned paper and mounting on heavyweight Marshmallow cardstock. For this project I have used both the Artwalk and Storyline Chapters 12 x 12 Project Pads. I painted a thin layer of Dina Wakley Media Clear Gesso over the whole page.

Next I added some Art Philosophy Concentrated Watercolours. I could not love this product more!! The colours are so vibrant and they are so easy to work with. I spritzed my page with water first and then dropped the colours into the wet area. I love watching the watercoloour bloom in the water. I find it so mesmerizing and relaxing. Once the watercolour had done it's thing I then started manipulating the colour with a large soft wet paintbrush to push it where I wanted it. I spritzed with water and played around with tilting the page too. Basically anything goes to get that colour where you want it! I flicked some of the colour over the page too.

I managed to get my inky hands on the NEW Aall & Create Take Flight Clear Stamp Set. (Lucky me!!) It is a stunning stamp set and I was super impressed with the size of the stamps especially the huge gorgeous wings. Here I have used the long grungy strip stamp down the middle of my page as well as the chevrons stamp. I applied the stamps using Ranger Rose Madder Archival Ink.

Next I added some stencilling using the Kaisercraft Bubbles 12 x 12 Template and the fabulous Prima Art Extravagance Vintage Gold Icing Paste.

Here's an angle shot to show how gorgeously gold that icing paste is.

Next I tore a strip of Heidi Swapp patterned paper and attached some Tim Holtz Terminology Tissue Wrap and paper doilies to the back of it. Once everything was attached I added the whole lot to the page.

I stamped a couple of small wings from the Take Flight Set onto vellum using Jet Black Archival Ink. If you haven't had the 'pleasure' of stamping on vellum before, it may take a few goes (speaking from experience)!! The ink slips on the vellum and it can be tricky to get a crisp image. Persistance pays off though. I fussy cut the wings and added them to a fussy cut photo of my daughter in her fairy costume. I am sure my daughter would like me to add that this photo was taken many years ago and she is way too cool to wear a fairy costume now.

As you can see I added 'fairy' Hayley to the layout along with a chopped up piece of Heidi Swapp die cut paper and some butterflies. For the butterflies I used a brand new stamp from Darkroom Door and applied it onto the same patterned paper that I tore the big strip from. Any butterflies would work for this though.

I added a little bit more stamping using a Technique Tuesday Stamp Set and shook a gold Pintor Pen over the layout (covering up my photo) to add some gold drops. I finished with my title.

Darkroom Door DT - Abstract 09

 Hello Darkroom Door fans!

Today I am sharing my projects for Darkroom Door created with the awesome BRAND NEW Abstract 09 Abstract Stamp. This is such a fun and quirky stamp that inspired me to create a 'crazy' art journal page and 'quirky' little creature tags.

'Crazy' Art Journal Page

It's a crazy explosion of colour, right?!! For this page I basically built upon a page that I had been using to clean off my brayer from gel press printing. I had also pressed the Starry Night Large Stencil onto it to remove excess paint from the stencil so you can see that peeking through.

I swiped some more paint over the page because there wasn't enough already!! Then I placed the Arty Circles Small Stencil over it and removed the paint from the circles using a water wet wipe. I love the image this technique leaves with all of the previous layers peeking through the circles. This is a technique that I have seen Lisa Oxley demonstrate and I can't get enough of it now. So fun! Thanks Lisa for the inspiration!

I added some hot pink sun rays using the Sunshine Small Stencil too. There's some stamping in there too using the Dots Texture Stamp with Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink. This would have to be my favourite ink ever. Once dry, it just doesn't budge. Perfect when you are adding many layers and using wet mediums on top of it. There's some doodling around the 'arty circles' using fine black and white Posca Pens as well as some random dots and dashes using other paint pens.

I used the Jet Black ink to stamp some Bold Blossoms on the page as well as the Springtime Sprouts Line Art Stamp. I stamped the Springtime Sprouts again on smooth white cardstock and drew little faces on the sprouts. I then fussy cut the 'faces' and stuck them onto the page. Next I stamped the Abstract 09 Abstract Stamp onto smooth white cardstock three times and fussy cut them to add to my page. I created borders with some of them and also cut individual circles to scatter over the page.

Finally I stamped the Crazy Enough Quote Stamp onto white cardstock and cut out. I stamped the 'CRAZY' using the Sketched Alphabet Stamp Set, fussy cut and added that to the page with the quote. I painted the letters using the same paints used on the background. I added lines to the 'R' to match the Abstract 09 Stamp.

Next up is my set of 5 tags featuring quirky mixed up little characters created using the Abstract Stamp circles for the bodies.

'Quirky Creature' Tags

These tags were so fun to make!! I really enjoyed mixing and matching stamps to make the little creatures. They were a little fiddly but so much fun. I think I could have kept going with even more crazy creatures!

I started by stamping five of the largest tag from the Tags Stamp Set onto kraft cardstock with the Jet Black Archival Ink.

'Adventure Fish' Tag

I stamped a background stamp over each tag and cut out the circle at the top of the tag. I applied Distress Oxide to a stamp from the Watery Washes Stamp Set, spritzed with water and then applied to each tag. I repeated with the spotty stamp from the set.

I stamped the Abstract 09 stamp onto white cardstock with the Jet Black ink as well as whatever animal I wanted to use. I fussy cut all of the images and stuck them together to create weird creatures. I finished each tag with a word cut from the Journey Word Block Stamp that I stamped on white cardstock.

The Dusty Attic DT - Country Life

 Hey Dusty Attic fans!

Today I am sharing my latest layout for Dusty Attic inspired by the March Mood Board. Such lovely colours that inspired me to create a more 'rustic' layout about hay carting time on our farm.

'Country Life'

I used some perfectly rustic Kaisercraft papers for this layout starting with the fabulous rusty old tin shed paper in the background. I added a torn piece of the 12 x 12 chicken wire which I painted with a combination of Sunshine, Sunburnt Orange and Cranberry Dusty In Colour Paints. To create the mottled effect, I simply used a latex make-up sponge and picked up each of the colours separately on it. I then dabbed the sponge onto the chipboard taking care not to blend the colours too much.

I layered on some torn Corrugated Card that I left in it's raw state and then some more patterned paper. To represent 'hay' I painted Wildgrass # 2 and Wildgrass # 3 Small with the Sunshine paint and glued the pieces onto the layout.

I used the mottled paint effect on the large Tyre Tracks, this time using Chocolate, Cranberry and Bisque paints. I added this to the bottom of the page and then layered on the Paddock Fence small that I had painted with a black Posca Pen. I added my paper stack and photo next along with other chipboard pieces painted with Dusty In Colour paints. Finally I added the title that I painted with the Sunshine paint.

Darkroom Door DT - Abstract 11

 Hello Darkroom Door fans!!

Today I am sharing a project I created for Darkroom Door using the fabulous BRAND NEW Abstract 11 Abstract Stamp. I have created an art journal spread using the stamp in two ways.

'More Than Enough' Art Journal

As you can see I used the stamp to create hair and also randomly across the background to represent clouds. I had so much fun creating this art journal spread. These pages were originally used to use up leftover paint from another project. I basically just used the paint that was leftover on my palette with the Ferns Large Stencil to create a beautiful botanic background. There's also some leftover Distress Oxide that was swiped on the page and white gesso through the Number Jumble Medium Stencil.

To create my 'afro' girl, I first masked off the Strawberry Lady Line Art Stamp with washi tape so that I only inked up her face and neck and none of the hair. I then removed all of the washi and stamped her on my art journal page. I used Jet Black Archival Ink as once it is dry there is no moving that awesome ink.

Next I grabbed a circular item from my kitchen (the base of my Tupperware sifter!!) and traced around it onto a piece of very thin notepaper. I traced it in the middle of the paper so that there was a large border around it to protect my art journal page. I stamped the Abstract 11 Stamp onto another piece of thin notepaper and the face again also. I fussy cut both of these images tightly around the edge (with no border) to form a couple more masks. I added a bit of a hairline in when I cut out the face mask. 

I attached the circular and the face mask onto my art journal page with washi tape. Starting at the left side of the 'afro' I applied the Abstract 11 Stamp using Jet Black ink. I secured the Abstract 11 'mask' using washi tape over the top of the stamped image and then applied the Abstract 11 stamp again slightly to the right of the first stamped image. I repeated these steps until the whole 'afro' was covered.

Here's a close-up of the completed character. I used Jane Davenport matte acrylic paints to colour the face and hair followed by Posca Pens for the details. The facial features were a little lost under the acrylic paint so I simply drew them back in changing them up a little to make it more my own style.

Next I used the Abstract Stamp without an acrylic block so that I could stamp random 'cloud' shapes across the top of the art journal pages. I used Aquamarine Archival Ink for a subtle effect against the background and so that it wouldn't distract from the main focus of the pages.

To finish I added some more stencilling using the Cascading Stars Medium Stencil and white gesso as well as some Dylusions paint.. I added some stamping too using stamps from the You Are Everything Stamp Set. Finally I added a little doodling using a fine black Posca Pen.

Bee Arty DT - Treasured Memories

 Hello Bee Arty fans!!

Today I am sharing my latest project for Bee Arty featuring the stunning Forever My Always Collection designed by the super talented Fiona Paltridge.

I started my layout by cropping a sheet of the Heart Beat patterned paper and mounting it on a sheet of the amazing Bee Arty Heavy Weight White Cardstock.

I then mixed up a concoction of approx. 20 drops of Marine Colour Artist Ink + a dash of Indigo Colour Spray + a tiny amount of Velvet Colour Shimmer Dust + a couple of sprays of water in a Colour Blast Mini Mister.

I sprayed my 'potion' very liberally on my page and also spritzed with a bit more water to create quite a puddle of lovely colour. I used a soft wet paintbrush to pick up some of the ink on my page and flick it over the background to create interesting little droplets of colour.

In fact there was way too much colour on my page still so I dipped a die cut Postage Stamp frame in the colour as well as a Butterfly Effect butterfly. I still had too much colour so I pressed a page of an art journal I keep for just such an occasion into the ink too.

I dried the page with a heat gun and then used a palette knife to swipe some Snow White Colour Paste over the Stardust A5 Stencil. Once that was dry, I added some stamping using Jet Black Archival Ink and the Geo Grunge Stamp.

'Treasured Memories'

I cropped some papers from the Forever My Always collection and stacked them under my photo. I also fussy cut some flowers and leaves from the collection patterned papers and added those to the layout along with my paper stack and photo.

I added the gorgeous Diamond Die Cut under all of the flowers and the photo  as well as the words cut from the patterned papers. To finish I added a chipboard word from my stash.
