For the second card, I again stamped the Scales Background Stamp on smooth white heavyweight cardstock with embossing ink and heat set with white embossing powder. This time though I decided to paint the individual scales with watercolour paints. This was quite time consuming but worth the end result.

It's a little hard to see in the photo but I used a sparkly gold watercolour paint which really gives a lovely sheen in the right light.

The rest of the card was created exactly the same as the first but using a different fish and a rectangular label.

Darkroom Door DT - Distressed Diamonds

Hello Darkroom Door fans!

Today I would love to share with you a couple of art journal spreads I have created with the NEW RELEASE Distressed Diamonds Abstract Stamp.

This is such a gorgeous stamp. I love the dainty little diamonds with their distressed look.

For my first art journal pages, I created a colourful background by swiping Dina Wakley Media paints as well as other acrylic paints over the pages with a palette knife.

I added lots of layers using the Diamonds Small and Large Stencils with the acrylic paints as well as the Harlequin Texture Stamp with Jet Black Ranger Archival Ink.

I let the pages dry completely and then applied the Distressed Diamonds Abstract Stamp using embossing ink. I then heat set with white embossing powder.

I swiped some of the same acrylic paints over a piece of smooth white cardstock and then stamped the largest butterfly from the Spread Your Wings Stamp Set. I added some doodling using Posca Pens, fussy cut the butterfly and then added to the right hand page.

I stamped the quote on extra white cardstock, fussy cut it and added to the left hand page.

I stamped a couple of the sentiments from the Spread Your Wings Stamp Set and added those. Finally I scribbled around the edges of the pages with a water soluble black pencil and activated it with a soft wet paintbrush.

For my next art journal spread, I created another background using various acrylic paints and stencilled on some Tropical Leaves using the large stencil. I added some patterns on the leaves by first placing the Tropical Leaves stencil back over the image and then the patterned stencil over the top. I then applied acrylic paint using a latex make-up wedge.

This time I simply stamped the Distressed Diamonds Abstract Stamp over the page using Jet Black Ranger Archival Ink.

Darkroom Door DT - Wild As The Sea

Hello Darkroom Door fans!!

Today I have a couple of projects to share with you featuring the fabulous NEW RELEASE Wild as the Sea Quote Stamp.

I just love the scribbly look of this font!!

For my first project I have created a fairly elaborate fold out card with three sections.

I heat embossed the Wild Waves Background on several pieces of smooth white cardstock using white embossing powder. I think in total I stamped the background 5 times so that I could layer up each section of the card.

After embossing I swiped the pieces through a mixture of blue Distress Inks on my craft sheet that had been spritzed with water. I let them dry and reapplied to the leftover ink and then flicked water droplets over to get a lovely water stained look.

Next I stamped some fish, the quote and the sun from the NEW Small Sketched Alphabet Stamp Set using Jet Black Ranger Archival Ink. I fussy cut each piece,

Finally I assembled all of the pieces onto my card base and added some sequins.

Next up is an art journal spread I created in an altered book. I prepped the pages with a light coat of gesso and then used watercolour paints to create the wild and stormy looking background. I left the page for a day to make sure it completely dried for the next step.

After I had let the page completely dry, I then applied the Wild Waves Background Stamp with embossing ink. Instead of putting the stamp on an acrylic block, I held it in my hands and just applied parts of the stamp all over the bottom of the page. I heat embossed with white embossing powder each time I applied the stamp so I could see where to place the next bit.

I found a quote from a Van Morrison song and used the waves as journaling lines.

I added lots of splatters onto the pages. I stamped the ship from the Sail Away Stamp Set and also the 'sail away' sentiment using Jet Black Ranger Archival Ink.

Finally, I stamped the quote on a separate piece of smooth white cardstock, added double-sided tape to the back and then fussy cut the quote. This makes it super easy to then apply the fussy cut words to the page like stickers.

Darkroom Door DT - Wild Waves

Hello Darkroom Door fans!!

Today I have two cards to share with you featuring the awesome NEW RELEASE Wild Waves Background Stamp. This is such a cool background stamp for cards, art journals and more.

Isn't this the coolest?!!

I had so many ideas floating around in my head for this stamp. I couldn't wait to play with it. So today I am sharing three cards and an art journal spread to demonstrate the different ways in which you can use this stamp.

First up is this card where I have heat embossed the stamped image with white embossing powder. I then applied various Distress Inks to my craft sheet, spritzed with water and swiped the stamped piece through the ink. I let it dry then pressed back into the ink to get a few more spots of colour. I flicked water at it too, let it sit for a bit and then blotted with paper towel to get the lovely water stained look.

I repeated the Distress Ink swiping technique using some orange Distress inks and an extra piece of smooth white cardstock. Once dry, I stamped fish on the piece using the Under The Sea Stamp Set and Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink.

I fussy cut the fish and then carefully cut around the outlines of parts of the waves so that I could slip the fish in. I cut around the top of the waves too before adding to my card front.

I finished by slipping in a stamped sun using the Small Sketched Alphabet Stamp Set and the sentiment from the Happy Birthday Stamp Set.

The Dusty Attic DT - A Girl and her Dog

Hello Dusty Attic fans!

It's Belinda here with you today to share my layout inspired by the gorgeous February Mood Board using lots of fun Dusty Attic products.

'A Girl and her Dog'

For this layout I started by adding some stencilling to the background patterned paper using the Heart Attack Stencil with white gesso. The white spots on the paper made the love hearts look weird so I used a fineliner pen to add an outline.

Next I created a stack of co-ordinating patterned paper, a torn piece of the corrugated card and a Grid Panel at the bottom. I tore the edges of the grid panel away in places to give it a more rustic look.

Next I painted the chipboard pieces that I wanted coloured. I gave those pieces a couple of coats of gesso first. Then I mixed up some acrylic paint to match the mood board and applied that to select pieces.

Finally I assembled my layout adding my photo and some extra embellishments.

Darkroom Door DT - Small Sketched Alphabet

Hello Darkroom Door fans!!

Today I am sharing with you my project featuring the BRAND NEW RELEASE Small Sketched Alphabet Stamp Set. As soon as I laid eyes on this fabulous stamp set I knew I had to use it in my daily dot grid journal. It is perfect for this use and many more!!

How good is this stamp set?!! I particularly love the frame stamps for adding headings to my journal pages. I super love the size of the alpha stamps too.

I decided to stick to a black and white theme for my journal as I am terrible at sticking to a journal and I thought this would make it easier for me to maintain. I am adding a stripe of colour at the edge of the pages to separate the months. A different colour for each month.

On this page I have used the rectangular frame at the top of the page to add the day and date. I drew two little clouds on the page, created a mask to place over them and then stamped the cute little sun to depict the weather on the day.

I stamped the elongated oval frame at the bottom of the page to share our dinner plans for the day.

I also added the cute little scalloped edge circle stamp at the bottom and turned it into a flower.

I used Ranger Archival Ink in Jet Black for all of the stamping.

On the next page, I again used the rectangular frame stamp at the top of the page. This time I used the small alphabet stamps to add the day in the frame. They fit perfectly!!

I added two of the banner stamps underneath and added the date to them using the numbers from the Alphabet Medley Stamp Set.

I used the elongated oval frame again for our dinner plans as well as the scalloped edge circle and plain circle turned into flowers again.

I really love this stamp set and found that it is absolutely perfect for using in planners and journals as well as cards, layouts and many more projects.
