Bee Arty DT - Magic

Hello Bee Arty fans!!

Today I am sharing my latest layout featuring lots of amazing Colour Blast products inspired by the February Sketch Challenge.

Here's a peek at the challenge:

'Magic'

To start this layout, I first cropped a sheet of the awesome Bee Arty Heavy Weight White Cardstock and mounted on a sheet of patterned paper from the fabulous Untangle Collection. I then applied the Stardust Stencil with Snow White Colour Paste using a palette knife.

Once the Colour Paste was dry, I spritzed the page with water and dropped in Colour Artist Inks. I first started with the Citrus. I dropped the colour into the wet areas, spritzed with more water, pushed it around with my fingertip, blotted with a scrunched up paper towel and then dried off with a heat gun. I repeated this process with both the Oasis and Slipper inks until I was happy with the coverage.

Next, I added some stamping. I used the Bokeh Stamp Set with Aquamarine Archival Ink. I used the text stamp from the set without an acrylic block so I could achieve a more random stamping style.

I added some messy thread across my page and then added a layered stack of matching patterned papers from the Untangle collection. I inked the edges of the paper with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink.

I added my photo using 3D foam and then the Postage Stamp Die Cut on top. I slipped in the Honeycomb Die Cut on either side of the paper stack too.

Next I stamped a whole bunch of leaves from the Floral Delights 1 Clear Stamp Set and fussy cut each one. I also stamped some stars and the filmstrips from the Moments In Time Stamp Set using Jet Black Archival Ink. I fussy cut some flowers from the Bloom patterned paper. I painted these flowers using the same Colour Artist Inks as the background.

Finally I assembled the layout using all of the fussy cut elements as well as the title and the quote cut from the Inspirations patterned paper.

I used the smallest star stamp from the Moments In Time Stamp Set to add a cute sprinkling of stars over the layout too.

Scrapping Clearly DT - My Here + Now

Hello Scrapping Clearly fans!!

Today I am sharing one of the layouts I created for the Australia Day Cyber Crop. I created this one for Challenge Four; My Backyard and used some fabulous products from the Scrapping Clearly store.

'My Here + Now'

I used a photo of my backyard which is actually the front yard of our home. We use the back door as our front door though so our house is kind of back to front. That is what you get with a quirky old farmhouse built in the 1800's. We even have an outdoor dunny that you can see in the photo. It gets so cold in the hills in winter so I would not have wanted to go out at night to use that dunny especially with the amount of redback and white tail spiders as well as brown snakes and red belly black snakes we get! Thank goodness for indoor toilets!!

I started my layout by cropping a sheet of the Paper Arts Bubbles 3 patterned paper. I love this paper. It really doesn't need too much mixed media on it as it is quite lovely just as it is. But of course I did add some! I had some Prima Finnabair Art Extravagance Icing Paste in Vintage Gold to play with for the first time. I have to say how impressed I am with this product!! I used it with a Vicki Boutin stencil and applied with a palette knife. It gave a really crisp edge and was quite quick to dry. I am going to be using this a lot and think I will have to invest in other colours.

Next I spritzed the page with some water and dropped in some Prima Art Philosophy Concentrated Watercolour in Marigold. I used a paintbrush (and my finger!) to push the watercolour around a little. Aqua and yellow are such a beautiful combination and the yellow co-ordinated so well with the yellow leaves in my photo.

I added some Peacock Concentrated Watercolour too for a more intense aqua/teal colour.

And because I LOVE stamping I added some stamped leaves to the background for added interest. I am totally in love with the little Inkadinkadoo Cling Stamps. This one is called Branches and has the sweetest little stamps. I used Jet Black Archival Ink which is my weapon of choice when it comes to stamping. It is waterproof and gives a lovely crisp image.

Next, I added some layered patterned papers and my photo.

I stamped some flowers and leaves onto book paper using stamps by Vicki Boutin and the Jet Black ink. I coloured the flowers with the same watercolours as used on the background and left to dry. I added double sided tape to the back of the book paper before fussy cutting each piece. This essentially creates a sticker and reinforces the paper to make it easier to fussy cut. Then all you have to do is peel off the backing and stick the fussy cut piece onto your layout.

Finally, I added some embellishments sprinkled over the page and my title.

Bee Arty DT - Fearless

Hello Bee Arty fans!!

Today I am sharing my latest layout for BEE ARTY inspired by the fabulous January mood board and featuring some awesome Bee Arty products.

'Fearless'

Here's a peek at the mood board. Gorgeous colours right?!

To start my layout, I mounted the stunning Chance patterned paper from the Fearless, Brave and Free Collection onto a sheet of the Bee Arty White Cardstock.

Next I added some extra pattern to the background with some stencilling. I added a little Sunflower Shimmer Dust to some Bee Arty Heavy White Gesso and mixed it in really well before applying through the stars on the That Way Stencil. I used a latex make-up wedge to apply the paint as it gives a really lovely smooth finish. I applied the paint very sparingly to avoid any bleeding under the stencil.

Once the stars were dry, I applied the next layer of stencilling. This time I added a little Love Colour Spray into some of the white gesso to create a soft. pretty pink. I used the dots on the same stencil with the pink blend to add more interest to the background.

I flicked some Sunset Colour Spray over the background too.

I had some leftover coloured gesso so I painted my die-cuts to match. I used the pink mix for the Diamond and the yellow blend for the Polaroid Butterfly.

I added some messy thread as well as the diamond to the layout. I cropped some pieces from the Within patterned paper and layered them together. I added these pieces to the layout using 3D foam.

I added my photo cropped to fit the Polaroid Butterfly frame. I fussy cut some triangles/diamonds from the back of the Fearless Brave and Free Collection pack title page and added those. I added a triangle and arrow from the Leap patterned paper as well as butterflies and feathers from the Follow Your Dreams Collection Possibility patterned paper. Finally I added the title and quote cut from the Leap patterned paper and all other embellishments.

Scrapping Clearly DT - Laugh

Hello Scrapping Clearly fans!

Today I am sharing my latest layout created for SCRAPPING CLEARLY featuring some awesome product from the Scrapping Clearly store.

'Laugh'

For this layout, I started by adding some interest to my heavy weight white cardstock background with a Vicki Boutin stencil and some heavy white gesso. Once dry. I spritzed with water and then dropped some colour into the water using the fabulous Prima Art Philosophy Concentrated Watercolour in the Truth colour. I picked up the layout and tilted it this way and that to play with the colour and let it move around the background.

For the next step, I added another layer to the background this time with some stamping. I used a couple of lids from around my desk that were the right size. I put a little of the Truth watercolour onto my craft sheet and then used the lids to stamp circles on my page.

I dried that off with a heat gun and then added some stamping using a Tim Holtz stamp with Jet Black Archival Ink.

I added some messy cotton thread, my patterned paper layers, photo, embellishments and title. For the title, I used a Heidi Swapp wood veneer word and painted it with three coats of heavy white gesso. I also added some white Posca Pen on top of that for an extra crisp white finish.
