The Dusty Attic DT - Adore

 Hello Dusty Attic fans!!

It's Belinda here today to share my layout inspired by the November Mood Board featuring some gorgeous Dusty Attic chipboard pieces.

'Adore'

Here's a peek at the stunning inspiration. Such soft, pretty colours:

To start this layout, I added some heavy white gesso swiped across the background patterned paper. Once dry, I applied some Dusty In Colour Dusty Pink acrylic paint over the Starry Night Stencil using a latex make-up wedge. I dried this off with a heat gun and then placed the stencil back over the top to trace around some of the stars with a number 1 Micron Pen.

I painted all of the chipboard pieces with heavy white gesso as the base. While I had the Dusty Pink paint out, I painted the title, a mini heart button and the 'you are the best' sentiment.

Next, I painted all of the leaves with the Dusty in Colour Jungle Green paint. Once they were dry, I drew some detail on them using a fine white Posca Paint Pen.

Scrapping Clearly DT - Celebrate

Hello Scrapping Clearly fans!!

Today I am sharing my latest project for Scrapping Clearly featuring lots of awesome products from the store. Today I have a layout to share with you inspired by the gorgeous November Mood Board.

'Celebrate' 

Here's a reminder of the stunning colours of the mood board:

This was such a fun layout to create starting with an explosion of colour on my background using the awesome Distress Oxides from Tim Holtz. I love the Oxides so much that I try to use them on everything!!

Here I pressed the ink pads onto a piece of plastic as some of the other DT have done (I had to try it for myself!!) I spritzed it with water and then pressed onto the page lightly. I dried the page in between each colour. I also picked up some of the colour from the plastic with a soft wet paintbrush and flicked it over the background.

Next I added a layer of stamping using the same colour Distress Oxides and the stunning Mandala Tapestry stamps by Art By Marlene as well as Vicki Boutin Kaleidoscope Clear Stamps.

I also used the sentiment stamps from the Vicki Boutin set with the Distress Oxides and stamped them around the central area.

Next I added some Heidi Swapp patterned papers that I had die cut using the Kaisercraft Nesting Pennants Dies and some Heidi Swapp Ephemera on top of some messy cotton thread..

Finally I added my photo as well as the title and other embellishments.

The Dusty Attic DT - Hello Sweetness

 Hello Dusty Attic Fans!

Today I am sharing my latest layout featuring awesome Dusty Attic chipboard.

Hello Sweetness

For this layout I have used the stunning Bee Arty paper collection 'Forever My Always' designed by the uber talented Fiona Paltridge. I loved the sparkly gold background paper that perfectly matched my darling daughter's hair.

The gold background then inspired me to 'paint' my chipboard pieces gold. When I say paint I mean I used a Pilot Pintor Paint Pen in Gold to basically colour over the chipboard. Why get messy paintbrushes and water jars etc out when you can use a simple pen right?! No cleaning up afterwards!

Oh and how good are those Get Framed Postage Stamp frames?? I LOVE them.

You can have too much gold (said no one EVER!!) so I used my obligatory white Posca Paint Pen to colour the mini tab and the banner and break up all of the in your face colour a bit.

Scrapping Clearly DT - 2020 Art Tiles

 Happy Fri-YAY Scrapping Clearly fans!!

Today I am sharing my latest project for Scrapping Clearly featuring some awesome product available in store.

If you are like me and you have a stack of project life cards sitting around gathering dust then this little project might be for you. I absolutely love project life but I find it hard to commit to a whole year of documenting in the same way. I can't maintain a journal or diary either!! 

So these little art cards allow me to document how I am feeling about this shocking year without having a schedule to create them.

2020 ART TILES 

So I started with this stack of project life cards that I have had for aaages in my stash. Of course you don't have to use project life cards. You could cut your own cards from sturdy cardstock, watercolour paper, paint swatches, chipboard etc.

I grabbed out all of the awesome products from the Scrapping Clearly store that I thought I might like to use. I tore up some collage papers, book paper, music sheets and sewing patterns. Anything will work. This is a great way to use up leftover scraps. I like to keep a container with different scraps especially for collage.

I added the collage pieces to each card using a matte gel medium and a silicone brush and then left to dry completely. You don't need to be very neat (as you can see from mine).

Once the tiles were dry, I carefully tore away the excess paper from around the edges. You can cut it away with a knife or scissors for a neater look but I like the rough edge for more interest.

Next I used a palette knife to swipe some heavy white gesso over the surface of each tile. You don't want to totally obliterate the patterned papers so a light touch is best.

Then I used the palette knife again to add a whole lot of super bright colour using the amazing Dylusions Paints. I LOVE those colours.

I swiped over a little more white gesso just to calm things down a bit.

Then I added some stencilling using a Tim Holtz Layering Stencil and some heavy black gesso.

To finish, I added detail with stamping, stickers and a little drawing with Posca Pens.

Here's another example of what you can do with project life cards. This set of cards I created to actually try to document October. They are now sitting in the 'things to do later' corner of my desk! I have good intentions of completing them all for October but in reality it's probably not going to happen. LOL

'Brave' Art Journal with Belinda Spencer

 Hello Scrapping Clearly fans!!

Today I have my latest art journal spread to share with you created for SCRAPPING CLEARLY using lots of awesome product available in the Scrapping Clearly store.

'BRAVE' Art Journal

To start with I laid down some colour in my DINA WAKLEY MEDIA 6x6 White Journal using PRIMA Art Philosophy Concentrated Watercolour in Peacock and Truth. I spritzed the pages with a LOT of  water first and then just dropped the colour on. I picked up the journal and played around with the colour letting it swish this way and that.

Next I added some salt crystals and set aside to dry completely.

The salt crystals didn't really work as well as they normally do so I ended up covering most of this up! I think they didn't like such a textured surface. Lesson learnt!!

Next I tore out a face from the DWM Collage Paper Faces Pack and added to the page using a matte gel medium. I use a silicone brush to apply the gel to the surface, lay down the image and then use the silicone brush to smooth some more gel medium over the top. 

I wasn't 100% happy with the salt crystal effect so I tore up some papers from the DWM Collage Collective Book and applied to the pages using the same matte gel medium. Oh and also a strip torn from the DWM Collage Paper Backgrounds Pack. I then set it aside to dry. (To be honest I was too impatient to wait for it to dry so I sped things up with my heat gun taking care not to heat too long or too close in the one spot or the papers will bubble.)

Next I grabbed my DWM Scribble Sticks and coloured in some hair across the pages. I used a large soft wet paintbrush to activate and blend the crayons and set aside to dry. (You can see on the face that I started experimenting with the next step too)

Time to start adding colour to the face! I used the beautiful Soft Neutral PRIMA Watercolour Pencils to add some skin tones to the face just by scribbling on the colour; darker colours in the shadow areas and light where the sun hits the face.

I activated the pencil using the same paintbrush and then set aside to dry. (Or impatiently dried CAREFULLY with the heat gun again).

She needed a bit more colour so I added some more using the Scribble Sticks again and then activated and blended with the paintbrush.

Time for some detail now! My go to pens for adding final details are Posca Paint Pens and also the new Pilot Pintor Paint Pens. I used white and black Poscas as well as the Light Blue Pilot Pintor Pen for the eyes.

Next I added some stencilling using a KAISERCRAFT Mini Stencil with heavy white gesso. I added a quote torn from the DWM Collage Papers using the gel medium. I added some circles using the DWM Mini Boulders 6x6 Template and Scribble Sticks.

I finished by adding some more stencilling and doodling with the black Posca Pen. I added the title too by stamping onto plain tissue paper using the HEIDI SWAPP Old School Alphabet Clear Stamps and RANGER Archival Ink in Aquamarine and Jet Black.
