The Dusty Attic DT - Favourite Moment

Hello Dusty FANattics!

Long time no see!

I thought it was time to dust off the cobwebs and share my latest layout for The Dusty Attic inspired by the July Moodboard.

Favourite Moment

I was inspired by the mood board to create a really pretty and girly layout using some Heidi Swapp papers I have had in my stash for aaaages!

I really love the Impact Titles and used my edited version of 'Favourite Moments' for my title. I simply decided not to use the 's' on the end to make the title fit my photo. I painted it with three coats of heavy white gesso first and then added some Heidi Swapp Colour Shine to the 'Moment'.

I used a torn piece of the 12 x 12 Chicken Wire on my background that I stapled in place. I left it raw to co-ordinate with the rustic feel of my photo of my daughter posing in our hay shed. I then layered the Swirly Flourishes on top. The flourishes were painted with three coats of heavy white gesso and left as is because I love the crispness of bright white embellishments.

I slipped in some pretty Blooms # 4 to match the roses on my daughter's dress. These I gave the gesso treatment before adding some Heidi Swapp Colour Shine.

Finally I added some stars to match the star cut outs in the background paper.

Darkroom Door DT - Grunge Borders Large

Hey Darkroom Door fans!!

Today I am sharing some projects featuring the awesome NEW Grunge Borders Large Stencil.

I started playing with the stencil and my gel press plate and made print after print after print! It's addictive!! From the many prints I made using acrylic paints, I chose a couple of my favourites to create art journal pages with. I also chopped one up and created two sweet cards.

'Do More of What Makes You Happy' Art Journal Page

For this art journal page, I first created a gel press print on my kraft cardstock journal using acrylic paints. Once dry, I added some stamping using the Grunge Marks Stamp Set with Tim Holtz Distress Oxides. 

Finally I stamped and fussy cut the remaining elements and created a cute little robin doing more of what makes it happy.

The Dusty Attic DT - Sweet William

Hello Dusty Attic fans!!

Today I am sharing my layout inspired by the gorgeous March Mood Board. I chose the pretty blues as my main colour and created a baby boy layout with just a few touches of the other colours.

Here's a reminder of the inspiration:

'Sweet William' Layout

I used the Knitting Stencil on my background with white gesso for a lovely soft baby background. I then added a bit of stamping on top.

I applied the same heavy white gesso to all of my chipboard pieces giving them about 3 coats for a super crisp finish. I chose white so that the pieces would stand out from all of the colours of the inspiration.

I added the String Frame to my background first. Then I layered on the patterned papers, paper embellishments and photo.

Next I slipped in all of the fabulous chipboard pieces that I prepared earlier.

The Dusty Attic DT - Trick or Treat

Hey Dusty Attic fans!

Today I am sharing a layout I created inspired by the March Challenge at Scrap The Girls and featuring some spooktacular Dusty Attic chipboard.

'Trick or Treat'

I was totally inspired by the skull image and the book paper in the inspiration so I began by creating my own book paper background. I then stamped the cool skull on it using Archival Ink in Jet Black. I added some red Dylusions Spray also.

I added some cute black doilies and the awesome Web Corners. I coloured the Web Corners with a black paint pen and then stapled them on to my layout with a long arm stapler. I like to use a stapler to attach things to my layouts as it leaves the edges free so that I can slip other layers underneath if I want to and also because I can't be bothered using messy glue.

Next I added all of my layers of fussy cut flowers, tags, my photo and other embellishments. 

I finished by adding the title and cute page pebble that I coloured with white paint pen. The paint pen works really well with the page pebbles as you can lightly brush it over the surface so that you don't lose any of the detail.

Darkroom Door DT - Abstract 08

Hi Darkroom Door fans!!

Today I am sharing three projects featuring the awesome brand new Abstract 08 Abstract Stamp.

I have created two cards and an art journal page.

'Hello' Card

For this card, I attached the circle stencil from the Circle Set Small Stencil to the card front with a small piece of double-sided tape to hold it in place. I then applied Prickly Pear Make Art Ink using an ink blending tool. Next I stamped the Abstract 08 Abstract Stamp across the front using Fern Green Make Art Ink. I also used that same ink with the ink blending tool to apply the colour directly around the edge of the stencil where the stamp can't reach so there wouldn't be any 'blank space' there.

I used a fine paint pen to draw around the edge of the circle stencil. When I removed the stencil, the ink smudged a little which was perfect for my theme and gave it a cool grungy look! The smudged ink gave me the idea to add some ink splats and flick some black paint over the card front too. You have to love a happy accident!

Darkroom Door DT - Crazy Enough

Hello Darkroom Door fans!

Today I am sharing three projects created for DARKROOM DOOR using the fabulous BRAND NEW Crazy Enough Quote Stamp.

I love how fun this sentiment is so I have made three very kooky creations inspired by it.

First up I have two cards to share followed by an art journal page.

'Ice Cream Fish' Card

Inspired by the quote, I really let my crazy run wild on this one. I added a fish to an ice cream cone and gave it that extra little bit of crazy by adding a googly eye.

I placed it on a watercolour style background using Distress Oxide ink with the Abstract 07 Abstract Stamp and one from the Watery Washes Set.

Next is another card this time with a much more vibrant background created by applying Distress Oxides to a craft sheet, spritzing with water and then swiping the card front through it.

I added my kooky googly eye seahorse to a plant pot along with some sea grass.

As the background was so vibrant, I kept all of the stamping to a striking black using Jet Black Archival Ink.
