Flutterby Designs DT - Weirdo

Hi Flutterby peeps!!

Belinda here with you today to share a layout I have created featuring the fabulous Happily Ever After collection.

'Weirdo'

I think the 12 x 12 patterned papers in this collection would have to be my favourite yet. I just love the vibrant colours making them the perfect base for a layout. Here I have used the "I'll Keep You" paper. I swiped some white gesso over a central area. After the gesso was dry, I used the 'Fragmented' Stencil with Flutter Colour Paint in Orange Goldfish and Tropicana Teal. I flipped the colours to be the opposite of the patterned paper. Once the paint was dry, I placed the stencil over the top again and added fine white outlines using a white paint pen.

I also painted the 'Wheels' Wood Veneer to match starting with a white gesso coat followed by the same Flutter Colour paints.

I really love the mix of orange and pink in the title so I have used enamel dots and sticky quick quotes in these same colours.

I used the bold black love heart filler card behind my photo to match the bold blacks in my photo.

I do love to leave the wood veneer in its raw state too so I added the 'weird as me' quote just as it is along with a sweet sprinkling of hearts.

The Dusty Attic DT - Some Kind of Wonderful

Hello Dusty Attic fans!

Today I have a layout to share for The Dusty Attic featuring lots of gorgeous chippies.

I got my hands on the Kaisercraft Stargazer range  and couldn't wait to match it up with some fabulous Dusty Attic star chipboards.

'Some Kind of Wonderful'

I began the layout by altering the background paper with clear gesso and Autumn Nights Glimmermist that I have had in my stash for aaaages. The spray nozzle was blocked up (of course) so I just spritzed the background with water and painted it on with a brush. I had to leave it overnight to dry absolutely completely to be able to emboss some white stars using a stamp and some fine white embossing powder. I flicked some white paint over it too.

Next I painted that stunning Star Banner silver using Brushed Pewter Tim Holtz Distress Stain. I LOVE this stuff! It's so easy to use. Just dab it on. It's mess free too and there's nothing to clean up. Winning!

I love to use the Mini Captions for my titles. There are such a variety to use to suit any occasion plus because I work in an A4 format, a smaller title really works well. Here I have grabbed my favourite white paint pen and swiped it over the surface taking care not to press to hard and obliterate the words in the boxes. I let it dry completely and then gave a second coat for extra crispness.

I added some more chipboard stars again painted with the Brushed Pewter to match the Star Banner. I can't resist using a Mini Tab on my layouts too jst above my photo. This one has been painted with the white paint pen to match the title.

I added a whole bunch of round and star shaped sequins to create a lovely night sky on my layout.

Flutterby Designs DT - Important

Hello Flutterby peeps!!

Belinda here today to share another layout featuring the fabulous Happily Ever After collection.

'Important'

How cool is that background paper?!! That is the 'Mac & Cheese' 12 x 12 patterned paper in the range and I LOVE it. I really wanted to showcase that paper on my layout and therefore for a complete change I have not added any mixed media to my background. It makes a really bold statement just as it is and looks really cool combined with the kraft and black and white elements.

I cut a strip from the 'Boring Together' patterned paper to layer on top of the background paper and doodled a loose border around it with a black journaling pen.

I layered some Everyday Etc Filler Cards and added those to the layout followed by the 'important' Snap 2 Fussy Cut.Next I added my photo and slipped the bottom edge of it under the letters. I added a cool quote cut from the 'What Makes Us Work' patterned paper.

I also added a die cut, page tabs, washi tape, wood veneer bits and a cool flair button.

The Dusty Attic DT - My Happy Place

Hello Dusty FANattics!

Belinda here with you today to share my take on the stunning inspiration board for June at The Dusty Attic. I have created an almost monochromatic layout for my project featuring some gorgeous Dusty products.

'My Happy Place'

To start my layout, I added a thin coat of clear gesso to my cardstock. Once dry, I spritzed with water and applied some Silver Amsterdam Acrylic Ink as well as Charcoal Kaisermist. I spritzed with more water and spread the mediums around with a paint brush. I flicked some of the silver over the background too.

I used some Golden Light Molding Paste with the stunning Mandala Stencil on the layout and dried it with a heat gun. I LOVE that stencil so much!

I layered on some co-ordinating patterned papers and added a torn strip of Dusty Corrugated Card. I then added the gorgeous new Fancy Frames # 1 in it's raw state to match the corrugated card followed by more layers of co-ordinated patterned papers and my photo.

The rest of the chipboard pieces I painted with the Tim Holtz Brushed Pewter Distress Stain. I love this Stain as it is pretty much mess free and you can very easily just dab it onto your chipboard. It doesn't take very long to dry either which is important when you are impatient like me!
I used a silver Posca Paint Pen to colour the centres of the Bridal Veil Dusty in Bloom flowers too.

Flutterby Designs DT - Weird

Hi Flutterby peeps!

Today I have a layout to share for FLUTTERBY DESIGNS featuring the brand new Happily Ever After collection.

I think my favourite thing about this stunning range is the 12x12 patterned paper pack. The designs are so fabulous and bright and you can get away with very little altering as Anita has done all the hard work for you.

For my layout today I have not added any mixed media. SHOCK HORROR!! Seriously the paper is so gorgeous as is that it just doesn't need it. Check this out...

'Weird' Layout

For my background featuring the 'Love Potion' patterned paper, I fussy cut some of the love hearts to make cute peep holes in the paper. I then layered it on some white cardstock and used a black journalling pen to doodle in some messy hearts.

Here's a closer look...

I added some layers with co-ordinating filler cards and used my journalling pen to add borders. I used a white paint pen to flick some white droplets across the page and let dry.

I added a photo of my hubby and me being strange. In actual fact it was a cold day and we both had cold noses so we pulled our jumpers up to cover our noses. I thought my hubby looked like Count Dracula so this was our impression of vampires. Yeah you had to be there. LOL

I finished with some cute wood veneer bits, a die-cut, page tab and some enamel dots.
Done!
Sometimes it is nice to take a break from the mixed media and create a quick layout and this collection makes it super easy to do so.

Here's what I used:

The Dusty Attic DT - Adore

Hello Dusty Attic fans!!

Belinda here today to share my take on the gorgeous May mood board at The Dusty Attic. I really loved the sunshine yellow in the inspiration so used that as my main inspiration with touches of pink.

'Adore'

I glued the fabulous Paisley # 3 chipboard piece onto my layout and then swiped some white gesso over the background and the chipboard using a latex make-up sponge. I added some torn corrugated cardboard and then added more white gesso. Once that was dry, I swiped over some Sunshine Dusty in Colour paint.

Next I stacked on the paper layers using some old patterned papers from my stash in co-ordinating colours inspired by the mood board. There was a cute bird print on one of the patterned papers which inspired the theme of the chipboard. I even found an old journalling card in my stash with 'bird' on it.

I used the Mini Moroccan Lamps upside down as birdcages and painted them white with the gesso.

I also painted the foliage and birds white with the gesso  but once they were dry I inked them with Wild Honey Distress Oxide.

I hope you find some time to enter the mood board challenge this month and have some creative time with your Dusty Attic stash.
