Flutterby Designs DT - Crazy Together

Hello!!

Today I am sharing a layout I created for FLUTTERBY DESIGNS using the fabulous Mad About You collection.

'Crazy Together' Layout

For this layout, I was totally inspired by one of Anita's filler cards which is the one directly under my photo. It is a book paper one with lovely big circles of bright pink, blue and green. This was my inspiration for my background.

I started by spritzing my background with water before spraying on Kaisermists in Pink, Lime Green and Aqua. I added more water to make lovely pools of colour on my layout. After drying with a heat gun, I then used Golden Light Molding Paste with the I {heart} you mini stencil to add another layer of interest to my background.

I love this photo of my hubby and kids being their crazy selves for the photo. I printed it off in black and white so that it wouldn't compete with my technicolour layout and so that it would stand out from it.

I have layered several filler cards from the Mad About You range underneath and added some crazy embroidery thread in matching colours too.  We are huge The Big Bang Theory fans so of course I had to use that fabulous flair button!

Here's what I used:

Charms Creations DT - Jot January Challenge

Hello!!

Today I am sharing a layout I created for the Jot Magazine January Mood Board Challenge.

Check out the gorgeous inspiration.

LOVE those colours!!

I have created a baby layout using this gorgoeus mood board as inspiration.

'Adore' Layout

I found the most perfect mist for my background in my stash but because it was a really old Glimmermist, of course the nozzle wouldn't work. I NEEDED to use it so instead of spraying the colour on, I misted my layout with water and then added the colour using a large soft paintbrush. I LOVE how the colour washed over the cardstock. After I dried it with a heat gun, I flicked a bit more colour on to create a bit more interest.

I used the same technique on the music paper 'XO' embellishments from Charm's Creations to perfectly co-ordinate them with my background colour. It really gave such a lovely watercolour look to them.

I created LOTS of layers on this layout using 3D foam to add lots of dimension and make my tiny photo stand out from the other levels of patterned papers.

All of the chipboard is by Imaginarium Designs and I have painted it with the same Glimmermist as my background.

I hope you have been inspired by my layout to create your own entry for the challenge. Why not go through your stash and find some old Glimmermists to use in the same way.

Cheers

Jot Kids - Mad Scientist

Hello!!

Today I am sharing a layout created by my darling daughter Hayley, aged 11, for the January Jot Kids challenge at Jot Magazine.

Check out the inspiration.

How fabulously bright is that?!!

Here's what Hayley created.

Mad Scientist

She had lots of fun creating that rainbow background using my Kaisermists.

She layered lots of rainbow coloured patterned papers behind her photo just like I do. I have taught her well! :-)

She found an old Prima rainbow flower in my stash. I also donated this fabulous super bright emoji embellishment from Charm's Creations. She glued on some wood veneer 'nerd goggles' to match the ones in the photo I snapped of her using her science experiment Christmas present.

Thanks so much for checking out Hayley's layout. She would love to read your comments. :-)

Flutterby Designs DT - Mad About You

Hello!!

I am absolutely thrilled to be sharing my very first post as a brand new Flutterby Designs Design Team member.

First up I want to say a massive thank you to the uber talented Anita Rodway for having me on her awesome team. I just love your clever, arty designs so I am stoked to be able to create with them.

For my first project I have a layout to share featuring the Mad About You collection.

'P.S. I Love You' Layout

I love this photo of my hubby looking rather dashing, sporting some quirky Christmas photo booth props, that I took on Christmas Day 2015. Believe it or not, that is NOT his real moustache. LOL

I started with a heavy white cardstock base and added a Pink Kaisermist and water wash over it. Once dry I added some stencilling using the Hugs and Kisses Stencil and a custom made mix of Golden Light Molding Paste and Prima Charcoal Chalkboard paint. I used a palette knife to smudge some areas of the stencilling. This is a great way to hide any imperfections in your stencilling!!

The stencilling turned out a little darker than I had hoped so I spritzed over the top of everything with White Kaisermist to soften the colours.

I love to create lots of layers under my photo and the Everyday Etc Filler Cards are absolutely perfect for this technique. I chose a few different coordinating cards, chopped them to size and then shuffled them around under my photo until I was happy with the arrangement. I knew (from experience!) that if I pulled my layers apart to add tape to the back, that I would never EVER get them back in the same order. My solution is to have my handy Tiny Attacher nearby to quickly whack a couple of staples in to hold everything in place.

Once the layers were in place I literally threw some pink embroidery thread over the top and then secured in place with my photo as well as some strategically positioned embellishments and a few sneaky dots of Glossy Accents. I added a bit of stamping to my background at this point too using a cheeky stamp from Typo.

I layered some Page Tabs above my photo too. I HAD to use the 'Sheldon' one as we are huge fans of The Big Bang Theory and Sheldon is most definitely our favourite character. And as I just LOVE wood veneer, I have added some Die Cut Bits and Bobs too.

Well I hope you are feeling inspired after my very first share to get in your scrap room and have a play with your own Flutterby Designs stash. I will have lots more to share with you in a couple of weeks.

Don't forget there is only one more sleep until the Flutterby Designs shop is open again on Wednesday 11th January.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today!

Imaginarium Designs DT - Adore Layout 2

Hi!!

Today I am sharing a layout that I created for both IMAGINARIUM DESIGNS and CHARM'S CREATIONS.

Oh just look at that adorable, chubby little face!!

I tried to make this layout as cute as the photo of my little man. I have gone with a bit of a circular theme with this one and used some paper from the adorable Crate Paper Little You Collection.

I cut a mixture of the coordinating patterned papers to fit the piechart and glued them to the back.

I have stuck to a bit of an aqua and white colour scheme with this layout so I have painted all of the chipboard pieces with a couple of coats of heavy white gesso.

Products used:

I hope you feel inspired to have a play with your own Imaginarium Designs chipboard. You can find lots of amazing inspiration over on the blog HERE.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Kraft Plus DT - On Your Bike!

Hello!!

I am back today to share my DT layout for the January Challenge at KRAFT PLUS CHALLENGES.

Check this out for an awesome challenge.

As soon as I saw this challenge, I knew I was the perfect excuse to scrap one of my favourite photos again.

How hilarious is that photo?!!! It's not even in focus properly because I was laughing too much to keep the camera still. SO the story behind the photo is this: Hayley won a competition and received a brand new girls Mongoose bike. The first thing she wanted to do when we got home was test it out, of course. William decided to ride his bike too. Out of nowhere my hubby comes flying along on Hayley's old bike much to her horror (which you can see on her face). She was yelling at him to get off her bike because he was going to break it. William is in the background laughing at the whole thing and I nearly peed my pants laughing so hard. It's just one of those moments that need to be preserved. :-)

I loved the soft colours in the inspiration image so I tried to replicate those colours in my background and the papers and embellishments I used to frame my photo. I also liked the way the quote was set out in the image so created my title in the same style adding a small Imaginarium Designs chipboard bicycle.

This was such a fun layout to create. I do hope you find some time to play along with the challenge too. You can find all of the details on how to enter over HERE.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.
