Darkroom Door DT - Sketched Numbers Stamp Set

 Hello Darkroom Door fans!

Today I am sharing some projects with you featuring the BRAND NEW Sketched Numbers Rubber Stamp Set by Darkroom Door. I have created an art journal spread as well as two age birthday cards using this awesome stamp set. 

'Spread Your Wings' Art Journal Spread

For this art journal spread I already had a gel press print on a page in my black paper art journal so I decided to use this as my base. I love having pre-prepared pages like this in my journal so that my projects are already half done and saves so much time!

First, I added some white stencilling using the Number Jumble Medium Stencil and white gesso. I applied the paint using a latex make-up wedge in a dabbing motion which gives a nice smooth finish. I only add the tiniest amount of paint to the wedge so as to avoid any bleeding under the stencil.

Next, I used a large paintbrush to add some mint coloured paint to the page. While it was still wet I placed the Ferns Large Stencil over it. I then used a water only wet wipe to remove the paint from the stencil area. I have seen the amazing Lisa Oxley use this technique and I really love it. Thanks for the inspiration Lisa!!

I used some pretty Dlusions paints to add some more leafy stencilling this time adding a 'positive' image instead of the 'negative' with the mint paint.

I was only originally intending to create a single page but as I was cleaning excess paint from the stencils on the facing page I started to like what was happening! So my single page turned into a double page spread.

Here you can see the evidence of cleaning off the stencil on the page and using up the leftover paint!

I also have several journals at hand so that any leftover paint goes into those too. Why waste it right?! Below you can see all of the things going on at once. No wonder my area is a complete disaster!! LOL

It is such a good way to use up leftovers though and then you have pages ready to be completed for other projects.

I added the Numbers Border Stamp at the bottom of the pages using Jet Black Archival Ink. I stamped the numbers from the Sketched Numbers Set all over the pages and added some doodling with a fine black Posca Pen.

I had some kraft tags stamped using the Tags Stamp Set leftover from another project that I had used to put each paint colour on while I was completing all of the stencilling. Afterwards I spread out the leftover paint on them and felt they were too good to waste so added them to the left had page. I stamped on them using the large number stamps from the Sketched Numbers Stamp Set as well as ferns from the Leaves Stamp Set.

I stamped butterflies and quotes from the Spread Your Wings Stamp Set on kraft paper using the same black ink, Fussy cut and added to the pages. I added some white spots to the butterfly wings using a white Posca Pen. Finally I added a little bit more doodling with my Posca Pens.

Darkroom Door DT - German Shepherd Photo Stamp

 Hello Darkroom Door fans!!

Today I am sharing three projects created with the BRAND NEW German Shepherd Photo Stamp from Darkroom Door.

I love this stamp so much. The detail in this one stamp is incredible. Oh and as a German Shepherd owner I may be slightly obsessed with this stamp!! Note: You don't have to be a German Shepherd owner to love and enjoy this stamp. It makes a perfect masculine style card. Here I have used the stamp on a layout and two cards.

'Hello Ziva' Layout

To start this layout, I pressed Distress Oxides in Hickory Smoke, Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade and Wild Honey (German Shepherd colours!) onto a non-stick craft sheet. I spritzed with water and then swiped my heavy white cardstock through it. I dried it with a heat gun and repeated until I was happy with the coverage and pattern. Any leftover Oxide on my sheet went into a spare art journal I keep on hand for mopping up excess.

Once the background was completely dry, I applied the stunning German Shepherd Photo Stamp using Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink. This is my absolute favourite go to black ink and resides permanently on my desk while all of the others are confined in a drawer!

Next I added some more colour to the stamped image using Faber-Castell Polychromo Pencils. I also used a white Jane Davenport Layer Cake Paint with a small fan brush to add some more 'fur' detail. I finished with a fine white Posca Pen to add highlights to the eyes and a little more detail.

After the stamped image was altered I finished the rest of the layout with some more stamping, stencilling and fussy cut stamped images using all Darkroom Door products as well as the photo.

Next up I have two cards created with the stamp using different techniques to colour them.

'Enjoy Today' Card

For this card, I used Distress Oxides to alter the image. I applied the stamp to a piece of heavy weight smooth white cardstock using the Jet Black Archival Ink. I dried the ink with a heat gun to make sure it would not smudge for the next step. I used an ink blending tool to apply the Oxides. I used Black Soot Distress Ink for the nose area. I spritzed very lightly with water from a spray bottle afterwards.

'Make The Most' Card

For this card, I applied the German Shepherd Photo Stamp on Glossy Paper using the Jet Black Archival Ink. I dried the ink with a heat gun to make sure it wouldn't smudge. This time I coloured the image using watercolour markers. I scribbled each marker onto an acrylic stamping block and picked up the colour from the block using a waterbrush paint pen.

Bee Arty DT - Little Me

 Hello Bee Arty fans!!

Today I am sharing my latest layout inspired by the fabulous March Mood Board featuring some awesome Bee Arty products.

Here's a peek at the mood board.

To start my layout, I cropped a sheet of Positive paper from the Fearless, Brave and Free collection by Fiona Paltridge and added it to a sheet of Bee Arty White Cardstock. I just love the watercolour style designs in this range so much. They make perfect background papers just as they are or you can build upon them with a bit of mixed media. 

Next I used the Grungy Splat A5 Stencil to add a couple of huge splats to the background. I mixed up a bit of a concoction of Snow White Colour Paste + White Heavy Gesso + Slipper and Citrus Colour Artist Inks and used that with the stencil to create soft pink splats. (I apologize for the photo editing!! It has made my splats look more cream than pink).

Once the splats were dry, I added some more stencilling using the stars from the That Way A4 Stencil and another homemade concoction of Snow White Colour Paste + White Heavy Gesso + Oasis Artist Ink.

I added some stamping next using the 'bubbles' from the Making Your Mark Red Rubber Stamp Set and some Archival Ink. I used the Netted Metal Die to create a 'fishing net' to add next. I used a long arm stapler to attach to the page. Much easier than glue!

I cropped some pieces from the Comfort Zone and Confidence papers and stacked behind my photo.

I added my title cut from the Within paper and the Lines paper from the Untangle collection. I used Thickers for the 'ME'.

I used the That Way stencil again with Distress Oxides to stencil some stars onto a spare sheet of white cardstock. I fussy cut and added those to the layout as well as a Charm's Creations star to finish.

Scrapping Clearly DT - Stay Wild Art Journal Page

Hello Scrapping Clearly fans!

Today I am sharing my latest project for Scrapping Clearly inspired by the gorgeous March mood board.

Here's a peek at the mood board.

I decided to create an art journal spread in my Dina Wakley Media 6x6 Journal. I love the cute size of this journal. It's small so it's not so intimidating when you are staring at blank pages wondering what you are going to create! Also the paper is such good quality. Super thick and sturdy to stand up to a lot of wet media and abuse.

I spritzed the pages quite liberally with water and dropped Prima Art Philosophy Concentrated Watercolour in Bright Pink, Peacock and Truth into it. The colours are so vibrant! I find it really mesmerizing and relaxing just to sit back and watch the watercolour spread and do its thing for a while. Then I picked up the journal and let the colours run down the page. I always put some paper towel underneath to catch all the drips and also to be used later for collage.

Next I used some Ranger Dylusions Paint in Blue Hawaiian and Bubblegum Pink to add some stencilling to the background. I used Vicki Boutin Storyteller Stencils for this including both the Radiate and Wild Soul Stencils. I tried the uber talented Lisa Oxley's technique where I added the blue paint with a palette knife, placed the stencil over it and then rubbed away the paint with a wet wipe. Not surprisingly, it didn't work nearly as well as Lisa's. I may need to try it a few times to perfect it!! It still gave my pages a lovely subtle effect which turned out to work really well. I swiped some of the leftover paint on the palette knife over the pages too.

Next I added a stencilled a quote on the page and then realized my book was upside down!!! D'oh!! The white 'cloud' on the right hand side is to hide the evidence! Nevermind I solved it by using the cloud later for a collaged quote. I swiped some more gesso around the page to make it look like it was all on purpose!

Tada!! The collaged quote on the cloud. It was like I had planned it. LOL I tore a quote from the Dina Wakley Media Collage Paper Faces pack and added it to the 'cloud' using gel medium. I cut a girl from the Dina Wakley Media Collage Collective Book. I stamped some wings onto some more paper from the same book using a butterfly from the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Specimens stamp set and Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink. I stuck the wings on the girl and added them both to the page using gel medium. I cut a circular image from the Collage Collective Book and added that too.

 I added two stamped and fussy cut butterflies. The butterflies were from the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Watercolours Set and stamped on some more paper from the same Dina book. I added stamping using a cute stamp from the Inkadinkadoo Branches stamp set and the Jet Black ink. I used a black Posca Pen and the Dina Wakley Media Mini Boulders Stencil to add some wonky scribbly circles. There's a whole lot more stencilling using white gesso and the Kaisercraft Fancy Flourish Mini Designer Template as well as the Darkroom Door Cascading Stars Medium Stencil. Finally I added a gold crown using a Jane Davenport stencil and the Prima Vintage Gold Icing Paste, some doodling with Posca Pens and some Tim Holtz Remnant Rubs rub-ons.
