Darkroom Door Abstract 04 Projects

Hi all!!

Today I am sharing some more projects for Darkroom Door featuring the awesome NEW Abstract 04 Abstract Stamp.

There are four NEW Abstract Stamps and they are all absolutely perfect for mark making on cards, layouts, art journals and more.

I have three different projects for you to demonstrate the versatility of the uber cool stamps.

'Love' Card

For my first project I wanted to show that the Abstract Stamps are the perfect size for a tall card and create the perfect base to layer on other fabulous Darkroom Door stamps.

Instructions:

Step 1:

- Cut a piece of coloured card stock 18.5cm x 21cm.

- Fold in half to form the card base.

Step 2:

- Cut a piece of smooth white card stock 10cm x 18cm.

- Stick down on the card base.

- Apply the Abstract 04 stamp using Jet Black Archival Ink.

- Dry the ink with a heat gun before the next step.

- Spritz the card front with a little water.

- Apply some watercolour paint using a soft wet paintbrush allowing the paint to float over the card front. You may need to spritz with a little more water.

- Dry with a heat gun before flicking a few droplets of the watercolour paint over the card front.

- Dry again.

Step 3:

- Stamp a flower from the Fine Flowers Stamp Set on an extra piece of smooth white card stock using the Jet Black ink.

- Dry with a heat gun and then paint the flower with watercolour paints.

Dry with the heat gun again before fussy cutting the flower.

- Add some messy thread to the card front.

- Stick down the flower using 3D foam.

Step 4:

- Stamp the sentiment and some hearts from the Hearts Stamp Set on the extra card stock using the Jet Black ink.

- Fussy cut each element. Add the hearts to the card front using them to help secure the messy thread.

- Add the sentiment using 3D foam.

- Finish with an enamel dot, button or other small embellishment.

'Hello Hustler' Layout

For my second project I created a monochromatic layout to show how the Abstract Stamp can be combined with other Darkroom Door mark making stamps to make an interesting background.

I created some layers behind my photo using some patterned papers as well as some stamped pieces and twine. I love this photo of our old bull casually strolling away from the water trough. He was such a lovely placid bull (until he saw another bull that is!).

I used some stamps from the Grunge Marks Stamp Set combined with the Abstract stamp on the background. Of course I finished with some stars from the Stars Stamp Set. I LOVE this stamp set so much!

I slipped the large Patchwork Butterfly in behind the photo and paper layers and added a couple of smaller butterflies too.

I stamped 'Hustler' using the Alphabet Medley Stamp Set, fussy cut and added to the layout using 3D foam. Everything was stamped using Jet Black Archival Ink.

'Serenity Now' Art Journal Page

For my last project I just had to use this awesome stamp on an art journal spread. I created a collaged and painted background and then stamped on the Abstract 04 Stamp using Jet Black Archival Ink.

The stamp created the perfect 'ground' on which to sit the beautiful gum trees from the Gum Trees Stamp Set.

Darkroom Door Birds On Tree Projects

Hello!!

I am back today with some projects featuring the stunning BRAND NEW RELEASE Birds On Tree Photo Stamp from DARKROOM DOOR.

'Go Out On A Limb' Card

Step 1:

- Cut a piece of white cardstock measuring 13cm x 19cm.

- Fold in half to form the card base.

Step 2:

- Cut another piece of smooth white cardstock measuring 12.5cm x 9cm. 

- Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Mesh Background Stamp and stamp onto this piece.

- Stick down on the card front.

Step 3:

- On another piece of smooth white cardstock, stamp the Birds On Tree image using the Jet Black ink.

- Cut around the edge of the frame leaving a small border.

- Use an ink blending tool to apply Peacock Feathers and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks to this piece.

- Flick a few water droplets over the surface to create a water stained effect.

- Dry with a heat gun.

- Stick down on the card front using 3D foam for extra dimension.

Step 4:

- Apply the same Distress Inks to a feather from the Feathers Stamp Set.

- Spritz the stamp with water.

- Apply the image to a piece of smooth white card stock.

- Dry with a heat gun and then doddle over the feather using a black journaling pen.

- Fussy cut the image.

Step 5:

- Add some messy black thread to the card front using the feather to secure it in place.

- Stamp a sentiment, cut out and add on top of the feather using 3D foam.

Next up is a traveler's notebook spread I created:

'Weekly Goal' Traveler's Notebook

Step 1:

- Apply matte medium to the pages and set aside to dry.

- Press the Peacock Feathers Distress Ink pad onto a craft sheet or acrylic block.

- Use a medium soft wet paintbrush to pick up the colour and add to the pages.

- Repeat using Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink.

- Flick some droplets of colour over the surface also.

- Set aside to dry completely.

Step 2:

- Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Birds on Tree stamp avoiding the frame around the top and sides.

- Stamp at the bottom of the page on one side.

- Repeat for the other side.

(If you accidentally stamp a little bit of the frame on your page as I did, you can easily cover it up by using other stamps over it or journaling on top of it)

Step 3:

- Place the Sunshine Small Stencil in the top left on the left hand side and apply Peacock Feathers ink with an ink blending tool. 

- You don't need to ink the whole stencil. Just give a little hint of sunshine.

- Use a black journaling pen to add some messy doodling to the sunshine.

Step 4:

- Add the Jet Black ink to the centre area of the Pinstripe Background Stamp.

- Squeeze the edges in as you hold it so that only the centre area of the stamp makes contact with the pages.

- Stamp a few times over the pages.

- Add more stamping using stamps from the Grunge Marks set.

- Add titles, sentiments, love hearts and journaling.

Cupcakes!!

Hello!!

Have you seen the stunning BRAND NEW releases from Darkroom Door???

Do yourself  a favour and head over HERE to check out all of the gorgeous new stuff. I get so excited with every release because there is always something for everyone whether you are a scrapbooker, card maker or art journaler.

Today I am sharing three cards I have created using the NEW Cupcake Eclectic Stamp.

So many possibilities with this sweet stamp. 

I have  gone BRIGHT with my three cards today using my favourite Distress Ink colours.

'1 TODAY' CARD

Instructions:

Step 1: 

- Cut a piece of smooth white cardstock 13.5cm x 17cm.

- Fold in half to form the card base.

Step 2:

- Cut another piece of smooth white cardstock 8cm x 13cm.

- Use a tiny piece of double-sided tape to attach the circle from the Small Stencil - Circle Set.

- Use an ink blending tool to apply Picked Raspberry Distress Ink.

- Apply Picked Raspberry Archival Ink to the Splatter Background Stamp and stamp over the inked surface.

- Remove the circle stencil.

- Stick this piece down on the card base.

Step 3:

- Use the Picked Raspberry Archival Ink to ink up the frosting and the patty pan sections of the Cupcake Stamp. Colour the cake area with the Light Yellow Glaze Big Brush Pitt Artist Pen.

- Huff on the stamp with your breath and then apply the image to an extra piece of smooth white cardstock.

- Allow the ink to completely dry or speed things up with a heat gun.

- Squish the Picked Raspberry Distress Ink pad onto a craft sheet or acryllic block.

- Use a soft wet paintbrush to pick up the colour and apply to the cupcake.

- Dry with a heat gun.

- Fussy cut the cupcake.

Step 4:

- Apply Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide to the Candles Eclectic Stamp.

- Stamp onto the extra white cardstock.

- Allow the ink to dry and then fussy cut one candle.

- Cut a small slit in the frosting on the cupcake and insert the candle.

- Secure at the back with double-sided tape.

Step 5:

- Add some messy pink thread to the card front.

- Add the cupcake using 3D foam.

- Stamp some stars on the extra cardstock using the Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide.

- Allow the ink to dry.

- Add double-sided tape to the back of the stamped stars before fussy cutting.

- Stick down on the card front using some of the stars to secure the thread in place.

Step 6:

- Stamp the sentiment using the Alphabet Medley Stamp Set with Jet Black Archival Ink.

- Allow the ink to dry.

- Fussy cut and add to the card using 3D foam.

The Dusty Attic DT - June Mood Board

Hi all!

Today I have a layout to share for The Dusty Attic inspired by the stunning June Mood Board.

'Little Moments'

Here's a reminder of the gorgeous earthy colours and that stunning inspiration photo in the Mood Board.

I started by choosing a photo of my kids when they were little helping to feed our cows on the farm as the colours in the photo matched the mood board really well.

Then I went on a treasure hunt through my stash for matching papers, tags, stickers and embellishments. This is one of the most fun things about playing along with the mood boards. I love shuffling through all of my scraps of patterned papers and finding what matches and works together.

Now because the colours are so earthy and the photo is of our rustic farm I decided I wanted to keep the chipboard in its raw state ie not altered in anyway.

So I kept all of the background chipboard in its pure form and just added white gesso to the title to make it pop and blue paint to the stars.

I used the leftover negative sheet from the Mini Tags # 3 as a frame behind my photo and paper layers. Waste not want not!! Also it adds an interesting layer in the background. Sometimes it's good not to throw the leftover bits away. They can always be cut up and used instead of 3D foam to bulk up layers on your projects.

The Dusty Attic DT - June Projects

Hi all!

Today I am sharing a layout plus a bonus card featuring stunning Dusty Attic products.

First up, is a layout I created for the May sketch challenge at Kraft Plus Challenges.

'Adore' Layout

I loved that the sketch allowed for lots of lovely layers which is my favourite way to scrap. So on top of layers of patterned paper, stamping, stickers and washi tape etc I added a sweet Whimsy Frame that I had painted with three coats of heavy white gesso.

I then added some stickers and die cut embellishments as well as my photo. 

I finished with some more lovely chipboard pieces that had also been given the three coats of heavy white gesso treatment.

'14 Today' Card

Here I wanted to keep the chipboard in its raw state to match the natural plant theme of the card. Just a few strategically positioned mini designs can really add the perfect touch to a card. The mini designs would have to be my absolute favourite as I love to add a scattering of chipboard embellishments across my cards and layouts. They are perfect for a minimalist look too.

The Dusty Attic DT - May Mood Board

Today I am sharing my layout for The Dusty Attic based on the May Mood Board.

Such a lovely combination of soft colours in the mood board this month that matched perfectly my photo of my kids in our hay shed taken many years ago.

I mixed up a combination of Lavender Blush Dusty In Bloom paint with a dash of Cranberry, diluted it with water and added a wash to my background . I flicked some of the colour over the page too. Once completely dry, I layered on a strip of perforated tape and a twine circle.

I painted all of my chipboard with about three coats of heavy white gesso for a lovely crisp finish. This is my most favourite finish for my chipboard as I like the stark contrast of the fresh white against whatever colours I might be using on my layout.

I stapled my frame onto my background and then added layers of patterned papers and my photo using 3D foam. This gives me enough lift to be able to slip in the flowers and other pieces of chipboard in and around the central focus. I only had a couple of Mini Tabs left in my pack and the words on them didn't match my photo so I simply used the reverse of the tab and added my own sticker quote.

I finished with an awesome Tribal Arrow (LOVE these so much!) and some Geo Tags. The Geo Tags are one of my favourite go to chippies for boy layouts.

The Dusty Attic DT - Lovely

Hi all!

Just popping in today to share a layout I created for The Dusty Attic based on the Week 20 Sketch.

Lovely

I started this layout with a stunning background paper from the Simple Stories Vintage Botanicals collection. I added a pretty was of Jane Davenport Inkredible Ink in blue and a few splashes too.

I painted the Decorative Frame # 5 with about 3 coats of heavy white gesso. Once dry I stapled it to my layout in a few places that I knew would be hidden by the other layers. I love how quick and easy it is to staple my chipboard frames on rather than add messy glue. I usually end up with glue everywhere so a long arm stapler is my best friend!

Next I added on my layers of patterned paper based on the sketch as well as my photos. I only add tape and/or 3D foam in the centre of my layers so that I can slip things in and around the edges as I think of them. There is always some last minute thing that I find on my desk that I just have to add!

I painted the leaves the same as the frame and slipped those in with a cluster of pretty Dusty blooms. I love to add a sweet Mini Heart Button in my cluster so I painted that the same as the leaves and frame and added that too. I also painted the Mini Her with the gesso but then added a lovely metallic pink Posca Paint Pen on top.

The title was painted the same as the Mini Her.
