Flutterby Designs DT - Mad About You

Hello!!

I am absolutely thrilled to be sharing my very first post as a brand new Flutterby Designs Design Team member.

First up I want to say a massive thank you to the uber talented Anita Rodway for having me on her awesome team. I just love your clever, arty designs so I am stoked to be able to create with them.

For my first project I have a layout to share featuring the Mad About You collection.

'P.S. I Love You' Layout

I love this photo of my hubby looking rather dashing, sporting some quirky Christmas photo booth props, that I took on Christmas Day 2015. Believe it or not, that is NOT his real moustache. LOL

I started with a heavy white cardstock base and added a Pink Kaisermist and water wash over it. Once dry I added some stencilling using the Hugs and Kisses Stencil and a custom made mix of Golden Light Molding Paste and Prima Charcoal Chalkboard paint. I used a palette knife to smudge some areas of the stencilling. This is a great way to hide any imperfections in your stencilling!!

The stencilling turned out a little darker than I had hoped so I spritzed over the top of everything with White Kaisermist to soften the colours.

I love to create lots of layers under my photo and the Everyday Etc Filler Cards are absolutely perfect for this technique. I chose a few different coordinating cards, chopped them to size and then shuffled them around under my photo until I was happy with the arrangement. I knew (from experience!) that if I pulled my layers apart to add tape to the back, that I would never EVER get them back in the same order. My solution is to have my handy Tiny Attacher nearby to quickly whack a couple of staples in to hold everything in place.

Once the layers were in place I literally threw some pink embroidery thread over the top and then secured in place with my photo as well as some strategically positioned embellishments and a few sneaky dots of Glossy Accents. I added a bit of stamping to my background at this point too using a cheeky stamp from Typo.

I layered some Page Tabs above my photo too. I HAD to use the 'Sheldon' one as we are huge fans of The Big Bang Theory and Sheldon is most definitely our favourite character. And as I just LOVE wood veneer, I have added some Die Cut Bits and Bobs too.

Well I hope you are feeling inspired after my very first share to get in your scrap room and have a play with your own Flutterby Designs stash. I will have lots more to share with you in a couple of weeks.

Don't forget there is only one more sleep until the Flutterby Designs shop is open again on Wednesday 11th January.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today!

Cheers

Imaginarium Designs DT - Adore Layout 2

Hi!!

Today I am sharing a layout that I created for both IMAGINARIUM DESIGNS and CHARM'S CREATIONS.

Oh just look at that adorable, chubby little face!!

I tried to make this layout as cute as the photo of my little man. I have gone with a bit of a circular theme with this one and used some paper from the adorable Crate Paper Little You Collection.

I cut a mixture of the coordinating patterned papers to fit the piechart and glued them to the back.

I have stuck to a bit of an aqua and white colour scheme with this layout so I have painted all of the chipboard pieces with a couple of coats of heavy white gesso.

Kraft Plus DT - On Your Bike!

Hello!!

I am back today to share my DT layout for the January Challenge at KRAFT PLUS CHALLENGES.

Check this out for an awesome challenge.

As soon as I saw this challenge, I knew I was the perfect excuse to scrap one of my favourite photos again.

How hilarious is that photo?!!! It's not even in focus properly because I was laughing too much to keep the camera still. SO the story behind the photo is this: Hayley won a competition and received a brand new girls Mongoose bike. The first thing she wanted to do when we got home was test it out, of course. William decided to ride his bike too. Out of nowhere my hubby comes flying along on Hayley's old bike much to her horror (which you can see on her face). She was yelling at him to get off her bike because he was going to break it. William is in the background laughing at the whole thing and I nearly peed my pants laughing so hard. It's just one of those moments that need to be preserved. :-)

I loved the soft colours in the inspiration image so I tried to replicate those colours in my background and the papers and embellishments I used to frame my photo. I also liked the way the quote was set out in the image so created my title in the same style adding a small Imaginarium Designs chipboard bicycle.

This was such a fun layout to create. I do hope you find some time to play along with the challenge too. You can find all of the details on how to enter over HERE.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Imaginarium Designs DT - Adore Layout

Happy new year!!

Welcome to my very first post for the year on my blog! It only took me 4 days to get to it too!! Go me!! LOL

I am thrilled to be spending another year on the awesome IMAGINARIUM DESIGNS Design Team along with a whole bunch of amazing creatives.

So let's kick things off with a lovely layered layout featuring my very favourite colour; AQUA!

ADORE Layout

This layout features lots of lovely layers with little bits and pieces tucked in and around the small photo to frame it.

I have used a couple of Swirl Corners in their natural raw state as a contrast to all of the colour on my layout.

I painted the butterfly with heavy white gesso and just before it was completely dry, I pressed a piece of scrap printer paper onto it. As I peeled the printer paper away, it took some of the gesso with it leaving a lovely shabby chic look to the butterfly.

Products used:

IDS0002 Butterfly large

IDC0004 Swirl Corner 4 per sheet

IDW0080 Totally Adore Wonderful

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my layout today.

The Scrapbook Store DT - 7 Dots Writer's Block 1

Hello!!

This month (and January too) at The Scrapbook Store I am playing with the fabulous 7 Dots Writer's Block collection.

Such a wonderfully grungy range! I just love it.

Happiness

I also had some gorgeous blooms from Blue Fern Studio to play with so I created a lovely lime green background with Lindy's Stamp Gang Flat Fabio Curiouser Chartreuse to coordinate with the flowers.

I also pressed the length of Green Tara Jute Lattice into the excess mist to add some colour to that too.

I am absolutely loving the brand new Carabelle Studio art stamps right now so I added some stamp detail to my background too. Go check out the stamps over HERE. There are some awesome new ones in store that you NEED to see. You're welcome. ;-) ;-)

Here's what I used:

KAISERCRAFT Kaisercard Kraft
white cardstock
letter stickers
paper clip

The Scrapbook Store DT - 49 & Market Heirloom Botanicals 4

Happy Friday!!

I am running a little late with this blog post! Eek!! Life has been CRAZY the last couple of weeks with an endless onslaught of nasty viruses not to mention the hassle of having my beautiful car written off by the insurance company due to excessive hail damage. Fun times...NOT!!

It seems it is my turn to be struck down by the germs and as much as I feel like curling into a ball in my bed and not moving we have a BUSY weekend ahead with the kids' karate grading, cherry picking, teachers' gifts to make and hay raking and baling. Hubby will have to fit in some fence mending too after the latest storm caused half a pine tree to fall on the deer fence.

Anyhoo. I will be spending as much time as I can scrapping I think. It's the best cure, right?? :-)

So today I want to share my last layout featuring 49 and Market Heirloom Botanicals for The Scrapbook Store.

'Beautiful'

I went crazy with dimension and texture on this one and I am absolutely loving the Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Spray in Canna Lily Burnt Orange. I discovered on previous layouts that this particular patterned paper is very porous and doesn't really allow for my usual technique with the sprays. In other words, it sucked that mist right up and didn't give me time to play with it. So this time I coated the background paper with Liquitex Clear Gesso to seal it. Problem solved!

I used a piece of muslin I had laying around (literally! I found it on the floor under my desk. LOL) to mop up the excess colour on my background to create a perfectly coordinated bit of texture. I draped it across the layout and stapled in place before adding all of the other layers. Oh and as much as I LOVED that beautiful Garden Vine, the green leaves just didn't co-ordinate with my layout so I painted them with the same Lindy's mist as the background using a soft paintbrush.
